This cleat made our “Best Soccer Cleats” list – we basically compiled the top 10 soccer cleats in 2019. Click to find out why we felt this cleat made the cut!

In 1979, the first kangaroo leather cleats began to reach the beautiful game and it changed how players approached their skills. The cleats were softer, more responsive, and it allowed players to reach their full potential. The Nike Premier Black Summit Soccer Cleat is a modern innovation on the decades-old technology that focuses on natural materials instead of synthetics to help players of any ability to focus on their game.

The traditional cleat design on the outsole is combined with a kangaroo leather upper and a goal leather quarter and heel so that all players receive a consistent touch that is supported with an enhanced level of comfort. There is an anatomical sockliner included with this soccer cleat as well, offering players a low-profile cushion that provides a superior level of support.

We found the boots to fit as expected, but because this is kangaroo leather, you may wish to order a half-size smaller than normal. These soccer cleats will stretch out over the course of a few uses.

What Are the Benefits of Choosing the Nike Premier Black Summit Cleat?

Most shoes are only partially leather. These Nike boots are almost 100% leather all around. This allows you to have softness and control no matter where you happen to impact the ball. There is a particularly noticeable difference with a backheel when wearing these boots.

The added comfort shouldn’t be discounted. Although not every player finds a Nike shoe to be comfortable, this particular cleat design gets pretty close to a one-size-fits-all user experience.

You’ll also find that there is a slimmer, slightly narrower shape to the overall cleat which lends itself to better overall ball control. There’s enough flexibility in the boots to allow your foot to move comfortably, but enough durability to stand up to 120 minutes of game play and still allow you to finish off the final penalty kick during the shootout.

What Are the Disadvantages of Choosing the Nike Premier Black Summit Cleat?

The one real disadvantage that we can see affecting players with this particular soccer cleat is its performance in the rain. This is a firm ground cleat only and the leather products do not handle the rain very well. Your boots are going to feel heavier because the amount of water absorption is higher than you’ll find in other boots. This means you need to wash and thoroughly dry your cleats after every use and apply a leather cream periodically to make sure you get the most life out of the shoe.

The sole plate with this shoe is also quite standard, so your overall traction as a player is similar to what you’d find in most FG boots of any quality level. The difference here is in the performance of the upper, so offensive players will tend to prefer this boot more than the average defensive player.

Even if the shoe doesn’t get wet, we found that the Nike Premier Black Summit was a bit heavier than other cleats. It wasn’t a problem on our end, but some players who like a very lightweight boot may find themselves feeling a little disappointed.

The Nike Premier Black Summit Soccer Cleat is an excellent value purchase for a high performance boot. Strap them on and you won’t be disappointed by the results.
